André Rossinot

Born in 1939 in Briey (Meurthe-et-Moselle), and having qualified as a Doctor of medicine, André Rossinot began his political career as Municipal Councillor in Nancy in 1969. He was elected as Member of Parliament for the Meurthe-et-Moselle département in 1978, then Chairman of the Parti Radical (of which he is today Honorary Chairman) in 1983 and has been Mayor of Nancy since 1983. He was then Minister responsible for Relations with Parliament (March 1986-May 1988), Deputy Leader of the Assemblée Nationale (June 1988-April 1989), Minister for the Civil Service (March 1993-May 1995), Chairman of the Urban Community of Greater Nancy (since  2001), Chairman of the National Federation of Planning Agencies (from 1995 to 2010), General Secretary of the Association of Mayors of the Major Cities of France, and he is also General Secretary of the Association of Mayors of France.

He is an Officer of the French Legion of Honour, and in 2009, he received, ”The Order of the Gold and Silver Star of the Rising Sun” from the Japanese Government.
